The Department of Mechanical Engineering at George Mason University is located near Washington, D.C., which gives our students access to internships, jobs, research, and entertainment.

Our students take classes at the Fairfax Campus and the Science and Technology Campus in Manassas, Virginia, where they learn in new laboratories, classrooms, and senior design space.

Easy Access to Industry, Culture, and Entertainment

Get to the nation’s capital by taking our free shuttles to the Metro. Visit world-class museums, attend live theater and concerts, or become a fan of one of the local sports teams. There are three major airports in the region: Dulles International, Ronald Reagan Washington National, and Baltimore Washington International, as well as access to trains at Union Station in Washington and Alexandria. You can also catch buses at Union Station.
